Dream Geometry Desk

Before this project started I had visited a rare books room and was especially intrigued by a collection of writings by Carl Jung. They were written by hand, and included illustrations of various geometric designs also painted by him. The client I designed the desk for was a graduate student who was beginning to write their dissertation. I knew they already respected Jung, and as a dissertation is a kind of Hero’s Journey (a concept that was heavily influenced by Jung’s work), I decided to draw inspiration from the designs I had seen. The shape of the base is directly drawn from one of Jung’s paintings, and the fossilized ammonites imbedded in the top further reference his designs.
